1. Use your Revolut card for all your spending
This is the main and simplest source of RevPoints: every purchase made with your Revolut card (physical or virtual) earns points. The principle is mechanical: routing as much of your daily spending as possible through Revolut is the most effective way to build up points with no extra effort.
Groceries, restaurants, subscriptions, travel, online shopping: any card payment to a merchant qualifies. The general rule is 1 point per €10 spent for the Standard and Plus plans, multiplied by your plan's coefficient.
With €1,500 of monthly spending on a Metal plan (×5 multiplier): 1,500 × 0.5 = 750 points/month, an estimated value of around €5.25/month or ~€63/year. Compare that with the cost of the Metal subscription (€18.99/month): RevPoints alone do not cover the subscription, but the other included perks (insurance, reduced-rate lounges, unlimited exchange) make up the bulk of the value.
Practical tip: set Revolut as the default payment method in your mobile apps (Uber, Deliveroo, Amazon, etc.) and enable auto top-up from your main bank account so you never run out of balance.
2. Choose the right plan to maximise the multiplier
Choosing your Revolut plan is the most structural decision for your RevPoints. The gap between a ×1 multiplier (Standard) and ×10 (Ultra) is considerable over a full year, but that gain has to be weighed against the cost of the subscription.
| Plan | Multiplier | Monthly cost | Points / €1,000 spent | Estimated value / €1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ×1 | Free | 100 | ~€0.70 |
| Plus | ×1 | €3.99 | 100 | ~€0.70 |
| Premium | ×2.5 | €10.99 | 250 | ~€1.75 |
| ×5 | €18.99 | 500 | ~€3.50 | |
| Ultra | ×10 | €60 | 1,000 | ~€7 |
The key question: from what spending volume does upgrading your plan pay off, taking into account the plan's overall benefits (insurance, free withdrawals, exchange rate, etc.) and not just the RevPoints? Our profitability simulator lets you make that calculation precisely for your profile.
RevPoints alone never pay for a subscription at a realistic spending volume. At 0.7 cents per point, you would need to spend around €10,500 a month on your card for the points gap between Standard and Premium alone to cover the €10.99/month subscription, around €6,800 a month for Metal (€18.99/month) and around €9,500 a month for Ultra (€60/month). Moving to a paid plan should therefore be decided on the full set of benefits (unlimited exchange, insurance, withdrawals, lounges), with RevPoints as a bonus that reduces the net cost.
3. Revolut referrals
The Revolut referral programme is one of the most effective ways to earn points outside of everyday spending. When a friend opens an account through your referral link and meets the activation conditions (usually: making a first card payment within a set period), you receive a bonus, often in the form of RevPoints or a credit.
How to get the most from referrals
- Share your link on social media during promotional periods (Revolut regularly runs campaigns with increased bonuses).
- Target people already sold on fintech services: those who travel frequently, make purchases in foreign currencies or want to cut their banking fees.
- Help your referrals through activation: explain how to activate their account and make their first purchase quickly so you receive your bonus within the deadline.
- Note the exact conditions: bonus amounts and qualifying conditions vary from campaign to campaign. Always check the current terms before promoting your link.
4. Partner offers and Revolut Offers
The "Offers" section of the Revolut app is one of the least-used features of the programme, even though it can generate significant extra RevPoints on purchases you would have made anyway.
How Revolut Offers work
Partner merchants (retailers, hotels, restaurants, online services) run offers that let you collect bonus RevPoints on their purchases. These offers must be activated before you buy: activating an offer after you have already paid will not give you the promised points.
Get into the habit of checking the Offers section in the app before any major purchase (hotel booking, electronics, subscription...). A few seconds of checking can earn you several dozen extra points.
- Offers are geographically targeted and change regularly: check often.
- Some offers require you to go through the Revolut app directly to trigger the bonus.
- The conditions of each offer (minimum amount, validity period, usage limit) are stated in the interface.

5. RevPoints challenges
Revolut regularly runs in-app challenges in the form of tasks to complete over a given period. These challenges let you earn bonus RevPoints on top of your usual points, and are a worthwhile source of accumulation for active users.
Common types of challenge
- Category spending challenges: spend a given amount at restaurants, on transport or at grocery stores over the next 30 days to unlock a bonus.
- Frequency challenges: make a certain number of transactions with your card in a week to earn extra points.
- Activation challenges: use a specific app feature (currency exchange, Revolut Pay, etc.) to get a one-off bonus.
- Seasonal challenges: during peak shopping periods (back to school, festive season, etc.), themed challenges with more generous bonuses appear.
So you do not miss these opportunities, turn on Revolut app notifications for the Rewards section and check the available challenges regularly: they often have a short validity window (7 to 30 days).
6. Ratings and in-app actions
Revolut encourages its users to engage with the app through small RevPoints rewards for certain specific actions. Although the amounts are generally modest, these micro-gains add up over time.
- Rate your transactions: rating your payments with a star or a comment can earn small points bonuses from time to time.
- Complete your profile: adding missing information, verifying your identity or activating new features may be rewarded.
- Take part in surveys and feedback: Revolut sometimes asks its users for their opinion and may reward participation.
- Activate new features: when new functions launch (new card type, new integration...), activation bonuses are sometimes offered.
7. Revolut <18 and Revolut Business
The RevPoints programme mainly concerns adult personal accounts, but it is worth noting the specifics for the other types of Revolut account.
Revolut <18 (junior accounts)
Revolut accounts for under-18s work with a perks system tailored to the junior profile. Availability of RevPoints in their standard form may vary: check the conditions specific to the <18 account in the app.
Revolut Business
Revolut Business accounts have a separate rewards programme. If you use a business account, RevPoints (or their business equivalent) are subject to different rules on multipliers and usage. For self-employed people who mix personal and professional use, it is advisable to optimise the personal account first for RevPoints-eligible spending.
Summary table: monthly estimates by profile
Here is an estimate of the number of points and their equivalent value for different usage profiles and Revolut plans. These figures are indicative and based on the reference value of 0.7 cents per point used across the whole site.
| Profile (spending/month) | Plan | Multiplier | Points/month | Estimated value/month | Estimated value/year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low, €300/month | Standard | ×1 | 30 | ~€0.21 | ~€2.52 |
| Moderate, €800/month | Standard | ×1 | 80 | ~€0.56 | ~€6.72 |
| Moderate, €800/month | Premium | ×2.5 | 200 | ~€1.40 | ~€16.80 |
| High, €1,500/month | Premium | ×2.5 | 375 | ~€2.63 | ~€31.50 |
| High, €1,500/month | ×5 | 750 | ~€5.25 | ~€63 | |
| Very high, €3,000/month | ×5 | 1,500 | ~€10.50 | ~€126 | |
| Very high, €3,000/month | Ultra | ×10 | 3,000 | ~€21 | ~€252 |
Basis: 1 point per €10 spent × plan multiplier × 0.7 cents per point. Partner bonuses, challenges and referrals can increase these totals considerably.
