€3.99 / month

Revolut Plus: is the €3.99 subscription worth it? 2026 review

Revolut Plus holds a strategic position in the range: it is the first paid plan, and it brings the essential thing Standard lacks, insurance. For less than €4 a month, you cover your trips, triple your exchange allowance and protect your online purchases. The question is not whether Plus is "good" (it objectively is) but whether your profile justifies this upgrade, or whether you should go straight to Premium.

€3.99 / month or €40 a year on the annual subscription (save €7.88)
Up-to-date pricing: the price rise of 9 July 2026 did not affect the price of Plus, still €3.99/month or €40 a year for customers in France. In return, all paid plans, Plus included, now receive partner perks: Super Duolingo, Flo Premium, Lovable Lite, Laundryheap+. The banking benefits (exchange, withdrawals, insurance) are unchanged.

The concrete benefits of the Revolut Plus plan

For €3.99/month, less than a coffee a week, here is what you actually gain compared with the Standard plan.

  • First tier of travel insurance (estimated value €4/month)

The travel insurance included in Plus covers medical emergencies abroad and trip cancellation. For a traveller taking 2 to 3 trips a year, this cover is worth close to the monthly cost of the subscription on its own. An equivalent individual annual travel policy generally costs between €40 and €60 a year.

  • Tripled exchange allowance: €3,000/month

On Standard, you are limited to €1,000/month of fee-free exchange. Plus raises this allowance to €3,000/month, enough for the vast majority of profiles, including people who regularly pay in dollars, pounds sterling or Scandinavian kroner. Above €3,000, the 0.5% fee applies. The weekend mark-up drops from 1% (Standard) to 0.5% on Plus.

  • Card purchase protection (estimated value €2/month)

Any purchase made with your Revolut Plus card is covered against theft, loss or accidental damage for a set period after purchase. This protection is particularly useful for electronics, valuable clothing and sports equipment bought online.

  • Partner perks included since July 2026

Like all paid plans, Plus gives access to Super Duolingo, Flo Premium, Lovable Lite, Laundryheap+. Their real value depends on your usage: only count them in your calculation if you would have paid for them anyway.

  • The most affordable entry price of the paid range

At €3.99/month or €40 a year, Plus is the most accessible plan for getting past the limits of Standard. It does not require the financial commitment of Premium (€10.99) or Metal (€18.99), while offering the essential protection for travel.

The limits of the Plus plan: let's be honest

Objective analysis: the Plus plan is excellent in its price bracket, but it has significant gaps compared with the higher plans. Here is what it does not do.
  • RevPoints still at ×1: no improvement vs Standard

This is the most disappointing limit of the Plus plan: the RevPoints multiplier is identical to Standard (1 point per €10). If earning points matters to you, Plus brings you strictly nothing on this front. The ×2.5 multiplier only arrives with Premium.

  • Airport lounges still at full price

Lounges in the DragonPass network remain accessible, but at the full price per visit (around €35, indicative price shown in the app), just like Standard. The reduced rate (around €28) starts with Premium; only Ultra offers free, unlimited access for the account holder. If airport lounge access matters to you, Plus brings you nothing.

  • No cashback, as on all personal accounts

Like Standard, Plus earns RevPoints at a ×1 multiplier. Cashback does not exist on Revolut personal accounts (it is only available on Pro accounts). For a better multiplier, the Premium plan moves up to ×2.5.

  • Basic travel insurance: less complete than Premium and Metal

Plus travel insurance covers medical emergencies and cancellation, but not lost or damaged baggage, nor extended flight delays. For genuinely full travel cover (medical up to €10,000,000, cancellation €5,000, baggage €1,000), the Premium plan is required.

  • ATM allowance unchanged from Standard

Cash withdrawals remain capped at €200/month free (2% beyond that, minimum €1), exactly like Standard. Plus brings no improvement on this point.

Revolut Plus: who is it really for?

This plan is for you if...

  • You travel 1 to 3 times a year and want medical and cancellation cover without paying too much
  • You spend between €1,000 and €3,000 a month in foreign currencies: the tripled allowance saves you exchange fees
  • You want to protect your online purchases (electronics, fashion, sports equipment) without taking out separate insurance
  • You use Revolut as a secondary travel account and want the minimum viable cover
  • Your budget is tight and you cannot justify the €10.99/month of Premium

Avoid this plan if...

  • You travel 4 times a year or more: Premium pays off better with its full insurance and RevPoints ×2.5
  • Earning RevPoints is a priority for you: Plus does not improve the multiplier
  • You need baggage or flight delay insurance: Plus insurance does not cover those cases
  • You spend more than €3,000 a month in foreign currencies: Premium's unlimited exchange becomes relevant
  • You are looking for cashback on your everyday spending: no personal plan offers it

Plus vs Standard: moving from Standard to Plus pays off from 2 trips a year (insurance) or as soon as you regularly exchange more than €1,000 a month. The €3.99/month cost is lower than the estimated value of the insurance alone (€6/month).

Plus vs Premium: for +€7/month (€10.99 in total), Premium offers unlimited exchange, RevPoints ×2.5 and full travel insurance. It pays off from 4 trips a year or from €1,500 a month of spending in foreign currencies. Read our Premium review

Frequently asked questions about Revolut Plus

Does Revolut Plus pay for itself?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases for an occasional traveller. The insurance included is estimated to be worth around €6/month if you bought equivalent cover separately (€4 for basic travel insurance, €2 for purchase protection). At €3.99/month, the Plus subscription costs less than its own insurance.

The second way it pays off: if you regularly spend between €1,000 and €3,000 a month in foreign currencies, the tripled exchange allowance saves you the 0.5% fee (Standard) on the excess, as well as the weekend mark-up of 1% (reduced to 0.5% on Plus). On €1,500 a month of exchange, the saving vs Standard is €2.50/month (€500 × 0.5%), which already covers part of the subscription cost, on top of the value of the insurance.

What insurance is included in Revolut Plus?

Revolut Plus includes basic travel insurance covering: emergency medical expenses abroad, trip cancellation before departure for a legitimate reason (illness, accident, death of a close relative), and purchase protection on items bought with the Revolut card.

What is not covered by Plus: lost or damaged baggage, flight delays, travel personal liability, and phone insurance. Those extra covers require the Premium or Metal plan. Read the insurance terms and conditions carefully in the Revolut app before you leave.

Revolut Plus vs Standard: what is the practical difference?

There are three practical differences: the insurance (travel and purchases), the exchange allowance (€3,000 vs €1,000 a month, with a weekend mark-up reduced to 0.5%), and the price (€3.99/month). Everything else is identical: same RevPoints multiplier (×1), same ATM allowance (€200/month), same app features, same absence of cashback, and full-price lounge access in both cases (the reduced rate starts with Premium). Plus does, however, get the partner perks reserved for paid plans: Super Duolingo, Flo Premium, Lovable Lite, Laundryheap+.

In short: Plus = Standard + insurance + a bigger exchange allowance. If you do not need insurance and stay under €1,000 a month of exchange, Standard is enough and Plus would bring you nothing tangible.

Can I pay for Revolut Plus annually?

Yes. The annual Revolut Plus subscription is available at €40 a year. Compared with the monthly price (€3.99 × 12 = €47.88 a year), the annual subscription saves you €7.88, roughly 2 months free.

Our recommendation: go annual only if you are sure you will use Revolut regularly over 12 months. If you want to try the plan before committing, start monthly and switch to annual after 1 to 2 months.

Does Revolut Plus include phone insurance?

No. Phone insurance (damage, theft, loss) is not included in Revolut Plus. It is only available from the Metal plan (€18.99/month) upwards. If protecting your smartphone matters to you, bear in mind that separate phone insurance generally costs between €5 and €10 a month depending on the model and the provider, which can change your value calculation between Plus and Metal.
